Comforters made from “Hypodown”, synthetics, llama and alpaca wool, or silk are known as alternative down comforters.  They are often superior to traditional down comforters especially for those who are allergic to goose down feathers.  Alternative down comforters made from synthetic materials such as “White Cloud” simulate the look and feel of down.  Those made of synthetic material are lightweight, warm, luxurious, and machine washable.  Comforters made from alpaca and llama wool or silk are also alternatives to down comforters though not machine washable. Hypodown Comforters

Made from a combination of traditional goose down and natural syriaca clusters from the milkweed plant, Hypodown is considered a allergy free alternative down comforter.  A process that bonds the syriaca clusters to the down suppresses the dust and dander from the goose down, and enhances the warmth and breathability of the product.  Syriaca clusters are hollow and therefore have superior wicking ability, whisking moisture away from the body and into the air.  Hypodown is approximately four times warmer than other synthetics and many times more durable.
